Top 10 Super Bowls of the Last 25 Years

First things first, check out this tweet stream (very rare, via inactive feed), where I do at least one tweet about each of the past 25 Super Bowls. Now onto the countdown:

#10: SUPER BOWL XXXVI | 2001 | PATRIOTS 20 | RAMS 17

Feel like this one has to be mentioned despite, you know (and the bigger issue of spawning the New England Juggernaut Era). Viewed in a vacuum, the game was great. The 2nd biggest upset by point spread in SB History (only Namath's +18 SBIII victory was bigger than this). Simpler times.

#9: SUPER BOWL XLV | 2010 | PACKERS 31 - STEELERS 25

On top of this being a solid, close game, Slash played with the The Black Eyed Peas and Christina Aguilera's controversial National Anthem led many sportsbooks to pay both sides of the over/under bet for total seconds.

#8: SUPER BOWL XXXII | 1997 | BRONCOS 31 - PACKERS 24

The Packers were a much bigger favorite than people remember: -11 (4th biggest in SB History). This remains one of the most memorable plays in The Big Game™.

#7: SUPER BOWL XLVII | 2012 | RAVENS 34 - 49ERS 31

Is the most famous part of this game (HarbOWL, AKA Power Outage Bowl) my winning the "Ravens will win by exactly 3" prop bet? Probably not, but where else am I going to get to mention that online?

#6: SUPER BOWL XLIII | 2012 | STEELERS 27 - CARDINALS 23

This one is routinely ignored coming off the heels of 42 (The Helmet Catch) and could easily land higher on your own list. Just watch these highlights of the crazy final seven minutes.

#5: SUPER BOWL XXV | 1990 | GIANTS 20 - BILLS 19

I'm a diehard NYG fan and was 10 years old when I watched this game at our next door neighbor's house with my friend Lou, my brother and our parents. I distinctly remember a glass bowl of chips shattering during the celebration of the missed FG. Or maybe out of anger because of the safety? Not sure, I was 10.

#4: SUPER BOWL XXXVII | 2003 | PATRIOTS 32 - PANTHERS 29

"868 yards and 61 points. The game was scoreless for a Super Bowl record 26:55 before the two teams combined for 24 points prior to halftime. The clubs then combined for a Super Bowl record 37 points in the fourth quarter. [SOURCE]"

#3: SUPER BOWL XLIX | 2014 | PATRIOTS 28 - SEAHAWKS 24

While the game itself wasn't Top 3 for long stretches, it probably had the most shocking conclusion of any Super Bowl. The feeling I had when Russel Wilson dropped back for that ill-fated slant pass is not easy to put into words. I've got a feeling that it will be hard for a coach to top that horrible play call in my lifetime.

#2: SUPER BOWL XXXIV | 1999 | RAMS 23 - TITANS 16

I watched this game in a packed frat house in South Carolina (long story), so I actually didn't have the best TV experience. But that final tackle, man...

#1: SUPER BOWL XLII | 2007 | GIANTS 17 - PATRIOTS - 14

This has to be #1. The single greatest sporting event I've ever seen. "We're only gonna score 17 points?"

That's all. Thanks for checking out this list and enjoy SB50!
